What makes Sandura Sanding Discs Different?

There’s no shortage of sanding discs out there, so why choose Sandura? Here’s what sets them apart.

1. Superior Dust Extraction with Multi-Hole Design

One of the standout features of Sandura sanding discs is their advanced dust extraction system. The 150mm version uses a laser-cut 121-hole pattern, while the 125mm size offers a high-efficiency multi-hole layout. Why so many holes? More holes mean more dust gets sucked away during sanding, keeping your workspace cleaner and your disc cooler.

Reducing heat and dust not only protects your health and visibility while sanding, it also extends the life of your disc. Less clogging means more consistent results and fewer changes between grits. And yes, they’re fully compatible with standard multi-hole backing pads.

2. High-Performance Ceramic Mineral Blend

Timberlock Sandura sanding discs feature a ceramic and aluminium oxide abrasive blend, combining the best of both worlds:

  • Ceramic delivers exceptional cutting power, slicing through hardwoods, epoxy, gel-coat, and even metals with ease.
  • Aluminium oxide adds flexibility and toughness, helping the disc resist wear and tear without compromising on performance.

The result? Faster sanding with fewer disc changes and better results, whether you're shaping timber or refining a finish coat.

3. Longer Lasting with Resin-Over-Resin Bonding

There’s nothing worse than a disc that falls apart halfway through the job. Sandura sanding discs have a resin-over-resin bonding system that ensures the abrasive grains stay put, even under pressure. Combined with a durable open-coat structure, these discs are engineered to minimise clogging and maximise longevity.

The open coat means there's more space between abrasive grains, allowing dust and resin to escape. It’s especially useful when sanding softwoods, resinous materials, or painted surfaces that would otherwise gum up your discs quickly.

4. A Grit Range That Covers Every Stage

Sandura sanding discs are available in eight grit options, 40, 80, 120, 180, 240, 320, 400, and 500, giving you the control and flexibility to move through each sanding stage properly.

  • 40 & 80 grit - Ideal for fast material removal or levelling uneven timber
  • 120 & 180 grit - Great for prepping surfaces for finishing or paint
  • 240 to 500 grit - Perfect for fine finishing work or sanding between coats

Depending on where you are at with your sanding project, there’s a Sandura grit for every stage.

5. Size Options for All Standard Sanders

Sandura sanding discs come in two standard sizes:

  • 125mm (5”)
  • 150mm (6”)

Both sizes use hook-and-loop (Velcro) backing, making it easy to swap discs quickly. Whether you’ve got a Festool, Mirka, Bosch, Makita, or another sander, if your pad fits standard hook & loop discs, Sandura’s ready to go.

6. Versatile Enough for Every Material

Sandura sanding discs aren't just for timber, though it absolutely excels there. Thanks to its ceramic blend and open-coat design, these discs also perform incredibly well on:

  • Epoxy/resin surfaces
  • Painted finishes
  • Fibreglass and gel-coats
  • Non-ferrous metals (like aluminium and brass)
  • Even concrete and stone for lighter surface prep tasks

If you’ve ever struggled to find a disc that can handle mixed-material projects, Sandura’s your solution.
