The Two Essential Hand Planes
Low Angle Jack Plane
The workshop workhorse. Designed for flattening timber, dimensioning stock and edge jointing boards, the Jack Plane is capable of tackling larger projects with ease. Its longer sole bridges highs and lows, helping create flatter surfaces and straighter edges ready for glue ups.
Low Angle Block Plane
The compact all-rounder. Perfect for trimming end grain, chamfering edges, fitting joinery and performing finishing touches. Comfortable to use one handed, the Block Plane quickly becomes one of the most reached-for tools in the workshop.
Simple, Reliable Design
Both planes are designed to be uncomplicated and easy to maintain. Their minimalistic construction allows easy disassembly for cleaning and maintenance, while the smooth adjustment mechanisms make setup quick and effortless.
The accessible depth and lateral adjustment controls allow precise blade tuning so you can spend more time woodworking and less time adjusting your tools.
Low Angle Bevel-Up Design
Each plane features a precision machined 12° bed with the blade mounted bevel-up. This creates a low angle of attack that excels on end grain while allowing the effective cutting angle to be altered simply by changing blades.
This versatility gives you greater control over how the planes perform across different timber species and grain patterns.
Three Blade Angles Available
Both planes are supplied with a 25° blade as standard. Combined with the 12° bed angle, this creates an effective cutting angle of 37°, ideal for end grain and general woodworking.
- 25° Blade – Ideal for end grain and general use
- 38° Blade – Produces a 50° cutting angle for smoothing and everyday woodworking
- 50° Blade – Creates a 62° cutting angle for figured and difficult timbers
Additional blades are available separately, allowing you to optimise each plane for the material and task at hand.
M2 High Speed Steel Blades
MTC has chosen M2 High Speed Steel (HSS) for its excellent abrasion resistance and long-lasting edge retention. The thicker blade design also helps minimise vibration during the cut, resulting in smoother finishes and greater control.
While M2 HSS may take slightly longer to sharpen than some steels, its exceptional edge life means you'll spend more time woodworking and less time sharpening.
Adjustable Mouths
Both planes feature fully adjustable mouths. Close the mouth to minimise tear out when working difficult figured timbers or open it wider for heavier cuts and faster stock removal on straight-grained material.

- Edge jointing boards

We will endeavor to provide a similar service where possible eg. Australia Post Express may be replaced with Direct Freight Express for larger items.
- Please note the maximum package length that can be sent through Australia Post is 105cm and the maximum weight is 22kg. Anything over these dimensions will be sent via courier. If the parcel is outside these dimensions the parcel cannot be delivered to PO Boxes or Parcel Lockers.

Shipping Protection/Insurance - Covering Loss/Damage In Transit
- All freight companies used by Hammer Roo are general carriers and do not cover damage or loss of goods in transit. To give you peace of mind, we offer optional shipping insurance at checkout. This covers your order against loss or damage during transit and is calculated at 2.5% of the order value (starting at $0.75) for domestic orders, or 5% for international orders.
- Insurance is not automatically included. To protect your order, you must add shipping protection at checkout by selecting the shipping protection option.
- If you choose not to add insurance, you do so entirely at your own risk. Hammer Roo accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur once your order leaves our premises. We are unable to assist with claims or compensation for uninsured shipments.
- We HIGHLY recommend selecting insurance to safeguard your goods in transit.
What Insurance Covers:
- Damage during transit from dispatch to delivery
- Loss during transit from dispatch to delivery
What Insurance Does Not Cover:
- Theft after successful delivery by the carrier
- Deliveries marked as Authority to Leave
Authority To Leave
- If you want to have your order left at your address even if you are not home you can request Authority To Leave in the order notes during check out. If you request this option;
- You are accepting responsibility for delivery of the item once it leaves the warehouse.
- We assume a delivery has been made if the courier reports that the item has been delivered.
- Non-delivery/Theft claims by customers will not be accepted if the carrier confirms delivery has been made even if optional insurance is purchased.
Tailgate Drop Fees
- Any single product carton that weighs over 30kg must be shipped on a skid or pallet.
- If product is longer than 2.2m you must have means to unload at the destination via forklift, suitable manpower or pickup from the closest depot.
- If a product is over 30kg you can:
- Pick it up from the closest courier depot. Please advise us that you would like to choose this option, and when it arrives at the courier's depot they will be in touch to advise you it is ready for pick up. They will also set out any terms and conditions for the pick-up. It will be loaded via forklift so having an appropriate vehicle or trailer to allow this to happen is your requirement.
- Pay a tailgate drop fee. This will mean that the truck arriving to deliver the goods will have a hydraulic tailgate that will safely set the skid on the ground with a manual pallet truck to move the skid to a reasonable position on the property so that it is deemed to be safely delivered. Tailgate drop fees vary based on carrier (usually $65-$90), please contact us for an accurate quote.
- If your consignment fits the above criteria we will contact you prior to dispatch to confirm your preferred method and collect the tailgate drop fee if you choose that option for your delivery.
Manual Handling Surcharge (Overlength/Oversized Items)
- Any item once packaged that measures over 1.2m, weighs over 30kg or cannot pass through automatic freight sortation machines and must be handled manually by freight companies.
- For items 1.2 - 1.8m long there is a surcharge of $16.50 and for items 1.8m and longer there is a surcharge of $83.50 charged by the freight company to manually handle this freight.
- Hammer Roo passes this charge on at cost. If you choose the In Store Pickup option there is no extra charge on your order for handling these items.
Return To Sender
- If an unsuccessful attempt is made to deliver a parcel or parcel is uncollected within the carriers specified time-frame & the carrier returns the parcel to sender the customer will be responsible for re-delivery & return to sender charges.
- These charges vary depending on carrier & location. Should the customer not make contact regarding the parcel after 3 months from returned date, the parcel will be classed as abandoned & discarded.
